As you get older, you learn there are some things you can’t judge until you’ve gotten to the second half. Things such as:

  • That new HBO drama everyone is talking about that “starts slow but you just have to get to episode 3 that’s when it gets really good.”

  • Your grandma's “special punch” that may taste like just juice but most certainly is not.

  • A University of South Carolina Women’s Basketball game, who cares if Charleston Southern led 15-11 after the first quarter when the final score ends with Gamecocks on top at 82-46.

Despite Playing the Horn Frogs, the Gamecocks Were the Ones with the Hops.

Last Sunday, the University of South Carolina Gamecocks Women's basketball team embarked on another top 10 match up against the TCU Horn Frogs, but if you just watched the match you might not have guessed it was such a competitive pairing as the Gamecocks handed TCU their first loss of the season with a final score of 85-52.

The most memorable play of the night came from the Gamecocks Forward #2 Ashlyn Watkins who had her third career dunk that went SLAAAMMMMMM BAMMMMM STRAIGHT IN THE NET GET THOSE HOPS, GET THOSE BUNNIES, YEAH ASHLYN WATKINS DUNKORAMA, I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT, I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT YOU SHOW EM, CLEAR THAT COURT BY YOURSELF AND DUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TCU’s highest scorer of the night was LSU transfer Hailey Van Lith with 21 points. South Carolina’s top scorer was the incredibly talented oh my god how does she move the ball like that did you just see that did she really just do that #12 MiLaysia Fulweily who scored a team high of 20 points in just 21 minutes of play time.

Overall, the Gamecocks continued with the fire that had been lit under them from the heartbreaking - I genuinely cried when it happened I forgot what it feels like to lose because my team is just that good but at least it happened at a time where the stakes are relatively low - loss against UCLA back in November. The Gamecocks showcased just how well rounded of a team they are with a total of 50 bench points (only 2 points less that TCU total from the game) and a strong defense that kept TCU scoring in single digits in the 2nd and 3rd quarter.

The Gamecocks play next in a home game against University of South Florida on December 15th at 2pm.
